He didn\u2019t know the alphabet like other KG1 kids and didn\u2019t have the social skills either \u2013 he never sat in a classroom and interacted with other kids. I knew instantly that Ahmad would require a little extra attention.<\/p>\n<p>At times we assume the child knows certain things by the time he\u2019s at a certain age. It\u2019s not right to make these assumptions. I decided I had to give Ahmad a quick overview of everything KG1 students are taught as well as keep him up to date with what other kids in KG2 were learning.<\/p>\n<p>It was double the energy and attention but it was worthwhile when I saw the changes in Ahmad and how fast he picked up the skills.<\/p>\n<p>I started from scratch. First we learnt the alphabet followed by nursery rhymes.
